HEWI Online News Service:"Newly Issued Reports and Surveys - 09-Mar-04 STUDY FINDS GRADUATE STUDENTS LEAVE WITH GREAT LOAN DEBT The 2003 Survey of Graduate Aid Policies, Practices and Procedures (SOGAPPP) found that graduate students, particularly dental, law and medical students receive their postgraduate degrees with startlingly high levels of student loan debt. Graduates from private dental schools had an average of $144,474 dollars in cumulative student loan debt while at public dental schools the average was $94,788. Private medical school graduates averaged $107,215 ($94,925 public) and private law school graduates averaged $77,183 ($54,025 public). The survey also found that MBA recipients at private schools averaged $40,417 in debt and recipients of other master’s degrees at private institutions averaged $28,502 in debt."
